Grants awarded for the ISSW Fund and the Al Hodgson Memorial Scholarship
The Board of Directors of the Avalanche Canada Foundation is pleased to announce the following grant award recipients.
- Laurie Dumas, A Field Technician with Avalanche Quebec, has received a grant from the ISSW Fund to assist her in completing the Canadian Avalanche Association (CAA) Level 2 Avalanche Operations course. Avalanche Quebec has developed a new forecasting program for the Haute-Gaspesie roads corridor. This new roads forecasting program is an addition to the Chic-Chocs forecasting programs. It became essential for additional staff to have completed the CAA Level 2 certification for the new program. This course will allow Laurie to fulfill that role.

- Kirk Murray of Revelstoke, BC has received a grant from the Al Hodgson Memorial Scholarship Fund to assist him with completion of the CAA Level 2 course. Kirk is a professional backcountry snowmobile guide whose goal is to educate the public on how to safety ride in the mountains in avalanche terrain. His goal is to become an avalanche forecaster.
