Resources by Activity

No matter how you enjoy the backcountry, the snow and weather conditions that lead to avalanches don't change. However, different user groups approach and experience the mountains in different ways. A snowmobiler travels farther and faster than someone on skis. Ice climbers often spend prolonged periods exposed to avalanches, while snowshoers tend to seek out more gentle terrain.

The following pages provide activity-specific resources for winter backcountry users of all types.
